http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxvx_YWIS00 --- Sarabeth by Rascal Flatts Great song that shows cancer in normal everyday life!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814314/synopsis Movie, starring Will Smith, about on-set depression and eventually suicide for the “good of others.”
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0825232/ Movie, starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, about cancer and the things one wants to accomplish before they die.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53496.Walk_Two_Moons This book, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, discusses a young woman's struggle with her parents and her unique friendship-like relationship with her grandparents. Toward the end of the novel, her grandmother dies and the way her grandfather, being the wife, remains a stronghold and truly embraces death as a celebration, remaining strong. Since I read this book back in eighth grade, I reflect on the grandfather's strength as he continued to raise his granddaughter even despite the grandmother's absence.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPGmzyH2nI4 This song, "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" by Stevie Wariner, contains lyrics that imply the bravery and the embracing of their relative's constant vigilance over their lives in heaven. After dealing with the death of my grandmother to whom I was very close, this song sometimes pops into my head and reminds me of the continued life her soul shares in heaven and makes me look forward to the day when we perhaps meet again.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108052/ The movie surrounding death that I would like to draw your attention to is a classic but is nonetheless impeccable: Schindler's List. Directed by Steven Spielberg, this movie discusses German man Oskar Schindler's efforts to save Jewish Germans after hearing about Nazi plans. Though his efforts failed resulting in an innumerable quantity of deaths, his valor is indescribable.
A couple of my favorite books are "Night" by Elie Wiesel; this book is about a Holocaust survivors story. Very touching and just sucks you in. Its often read in classes, so many of you have probably read it.
"5 People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom; It is about a maintenance man after dying while trying to save a little girl. He finds himself in the afterlife where he encounters five people who significantly affected his life. I also read this book in an English class.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NJqUN9TClM&ob=av2e The song "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry is a beautiful song. This song holds various meanings, open to interpretations by listeners. A common interpretation of the song is about suicide. Another meaning is simply the death of a young person. While others think it is a remake on the poem "The Lady of the Shallot". To me, this song means you never know when your life is going to end, so live like today was your last day.
I know Karlie had mentioned this book before I believe, but I too have read this and it had a great impact on me. This book is about a man that is in a car accident and claims that he died and was in Heaven. These experiences are described in great detail in this book, and I recommend it to all.
The song "Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam. One of my all time favorite songs about a guy and girl who get in a car crash and the girl dies in her boyfriends arms.
The song "Live & Learn" by WZRD (Kid Cudi). This song is basically a song about living your life the way you want to, and to "live & learn" from the mistakes you've made in the past while passing on those lessons to those around you.

The song "Gravedigger" by Dave Matthews Band. In this song, many different people's lives are explained in obituary form through song. The song is about living life to the fullest, and staying strong through all the struggles life can bring.
Two very big movies that I feel are related to this class are the "Five People you meet in Heaven" (mentioned by Jaquie) and "Tuesday's with Morie". Both started out as books written by the same author Mitch Albom, which eventually became movies.
Tuesdays with Morie is a classic and we actually read the book in High School. It is avtually part Biography where Mitch Albom discusses his relationship with his old college professor/ best friend. Its a story of how Mitch who promised to stay in contact with Morrie grew apart from him and once he finds out his old friend has not much longer to live tries to rekindle their relationship and promises to see him every Tuesday.
